Over the Christmas break, the Burlington Lions Minor Midget Flyers took part in the London Optimists Christmas Tournament. The team went undefeated in round robin play, and ended up taking home the championship.
The Flyers got off to an excellent start, winning their first game 8-0. Not only did they win big, but they managed to keep their composure against a very rough team from London SSE. The next day, the Flyers won both their games by three goals. The first came against the West London Hawks, with a final score of 5-2; and the second against a Sarnia team 4-1. These three victories put the team in first place heading into the finals.
The final game saw a rematch take place between the Burlington team and the West London Hawks. Both teams showed up to play, but the Flyers clearly wanted it more, and won the game 6-2. It was a total team effort, as every player played a large role throughout the tournament.
