Weekend Hockey Report for February 8th and 9th
Submitted By Ryan Arsenault on Friday, February 14, 2020
The Minor Peewee Red Burlington Bulldogs were in action 2 times this past weekend.

The Dogs traveled down the highway (depending on your route either the 401 or 403) to play the Woodstock Navy Vets on Saturday.  The Dogs had been working pretty hard in practice and were on the heels of winning their past 3 games heading into this one.

The boys from Burlington came out flying in the first period.  They outshot their host 11-2 and Luca "Snipes" Carnale opened the scoring for as 1-0 lead.  In the 2nd the Dogs used a powerplay to move the puck around and Sean "Boyz B Buzzing" Rogers slid a fantastic pass back door to a cutting Nate "the skate" Arsenault off the blue line for a 2-0 lead.  The Dogs would add 2 more during the 2nd with Carnale netting his 2nd of the game and Nate "Milkshake" Kay going bar down for a 4-0 lead heading into the 3rd.

The Dogs took their foot off the gas pedal in the 3rd but some solid play by their tender Ethan "E-Transfer" Facciponte and some great endzone coverage by his d-men, in particular Jacob "Slo-mo" Slominski and Evan "Beatsauce" Beattie kept the Woodstock Navy Vets at bay and preserved a clean sheet.  The final score Burlington 4 and Woodstock 0.

On Sunday the Bulldogs hosted St. Catherines.  Appleby 2 was rocking and so were the Bulldogs.  As our buddy #18 "ROGE" would say the "Boys B Buzzing"  all over the ice.  Great passing by the forwards put the Dogs into perfect places to score.  The forwards were crashing the net, protecting the puck and cycling in the corners. The goals were coming by many different players, it was quite a balanced attack.  It was great to see the team play "TEAM" hockey.

As a result of his hard work in practice #8 - Brody "Mighty" Quinn opened up his scoring account with a rocket from the slot on route to a 9-1 win for the Burlington Bulldogs.  Smiles were a plenty!! A great way to cap of a strong weekend.

Our boys now sit on top in the standings heading into this weekend's match up vs. Stratford
