Volunteer Certification Information

BLOMHA periodically holds clinics at the office for the training required by Head Coaches. 

If there are no clinics listed, visit the Alliance Hockey website for dates and times of clinics in our surrounding area.

BLOMHA will cover one half of the cost for any online clinic or coaching course at the office. If you elect to volunteer again the following season, you can apply to be reimbursed for the other half of the cost. You must send a request for reimbursement accompanied by a receipt for online courses.

All Head Coach certification clinics require pre-registration. Registration forms for those held at the BLOMHA office are available here on the site and at the BLOMHA office. Completed forms along with payment are to be handed into the BLOMHA office to reserve a spot. Registration closes 7 days prior to the course.


                                      Respect in Sport Program/Formerly Speak Out

All Team Officials are required to have completed the Respect in Sport course before they can be active with a team. This includes Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Trainers and Managers.

This course gives the participants effective tools to recognize and deal with topics such as: Definitions of abuse and harassment, responding to disclosures,prevention of harassment, bullying and abuse during competition.

Coaches please note: This certification is NO LONGER integrated into Coaching clinics.

Changes to NCCP for Hockey

COACHING CLINICS - Contact the office for information on the accreditation required as it pertains to House League/Rep programs.


Dates for clinics to be held at the BLOMHA office:

Development 1  Trained         August 26th-27th (2 day course) 
    (Rep Head Coach and Assistant Coach requirement)

Coach Level 2                          September 9th and 16th 

      (House League Head Coach and House League Select Head Coach requirement)


Process for Coach Level 2:

The Coach 2 - Coach Level Training consists of two components:
1) Hockey University - Online Modules 
2) Coach 2 - Coach Level Clinic (in-class course work and on-ice Specialty Skills Session)

The Coach will first complete the Hockey Canada Hockey University E-Learning Modules (1-12) online. Upon completion of these online modules, a Coach will register for a Coach 2 - Coach Level Clinic which will consist of a 4 hour Classroom Session and 1.5 hour On-Ice Session. When the Coach has completed the online component they will be considered IN-TRAINING, and once the in-class component and the on-ice Specialty Skills Session is completed, the Coach will be considered TRAINED.
