What kind of Hockey does BLOMHA offer? And what are the different programs?

Non Competitive Hockey Program - House League:

The foundation of our membership has always been our House League program. BLOMHA offers a FUN and exciting House League program for boys and girls ages 4-18. These programs are community run and operate on the principals of good sportsmanship, discipline, team work and the fair treatment of others under all circumstances and all conditions. In existence since 1951 BLOMHA has seen many of Burlington's youth graduate to enjoy healthy and happy lifestyles through the lessons they learned while with BLOMHA. Many return as volunteers to work with the next generation of our youth.

BLOMHA is also the proud host of the Annual House League Tournament during March Break. This tournament attracts teams from across Ontario. The year 2018 will mark the 39th year of our popular House League Tournament.

We also run a program for 4/5/6/7 year olds. These players learn the game of hockey in a fun and safe environment. No scores are kept and the emphasis is on having fun while improving hockey skills. This is called the Initiation Program as named by Hockey Canada.

For players between 4-7 years of age, please click here or click the Initiation Program tab for more information regarding the program.

For House League Competitive Program - House League SELECT:

Players on House League teams are also permitted to try out for our Select Teams which are offered in most divisions. There is not body checking in our Select program thereby reducing the incidents of Concussions. Teams can play up to an additional thirty (30) games in addition to their House League Team.

The Select teams play a series of exhibition games and tournaments. For the 2018-2019 season we will have teams from Novice to Midget.

For Competitive Hockey - REP:

BLOMHA also operates two levels of Rep hockey, those being Rep AA/A, MD (Minor Development) for players from 7 to 15 years old. These teams compete in their regular season with other Alliance Hockey centres in Southwestern Ontario.

Our AA/A teams play in the very competitive AA/A divisions of The Alliance against centres in Hamilton, Brantford, Kitchener, Waterloo, Woodstock, Cambridge, Stratford, London, St. Thomas and Sarnia. This program is offered from Minor Atom through Bantam divisions.

Our MD teams compete with centres in St. Catharines, Brantford, Hamilton, Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge and Stratford. This program is offered from Novice through Minor Midget (8 to 15 years old). This program required many hours of commitment from Coaches and Families.

Okay we want to begin Hockey with BLOMHA, where do we go to register?

Can I play House League and REP at the same time?

No, you cannot. Rep is a high commitment program with players that excel in there age group. These teams will travel for their weekly games and tournaments.

To Play House League Select or REP, does my child need to be very skilled?

Ideally the House League Select and REP teams are picked through tryouts, anyone is welcome to come and participate. A set of coaches will pick players from the tryouts for their team. Unfortunately not everyone is guaranteed a position.
