- All volunteers must be at least 14-years-old.
- All team volunteers must be at least 18-years-old.
- All team volunteers require certifications. If the required certifications are incomplete or if any have expired, you will be advised once a team position has been offered.
- Application forms are available below for all positions. Forms are also available under the Forms drop menu.
Team Volunteer Opportunities
Head Coach
All Head Coaches must have and/or complete the following certifications and courses. Minimum National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) certifications and courses required and mandated by Hockey Canada:

Main Responsibilities

The Head Coach must attend meetings as set by BLOMHA, and is accountable for all team activities and management of team officials. Coaches must be familiar with the Constitutions and By-Laws, Regulations and Policies of BLOMHA, ALLIANCE Hockey and the Ontario Hockey Federation.
Assistant Coach
All Assistant Coaches must have and/or complete the following certifications and courses. Minimum National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) certifications and courses required and mandated by Hockey Canada:

Main Responsibilities

Assistant Coaches must attend meetings if Head Coach unavailable, be familiar with the Constitutions and By-Laws, Regulations and Policies of BLOMHA, ALLIANCE Hockey and the Ontario Hockey Federation, and assist with all team on-ice and off-ice activities.

Trainer
All teams from U9 to U18 Divisions MUST have a certified and rostered team trainer.
Trainers must have a valid Hockey Trainers Certification Program (HTCP) Level 1 course. Certification is valid for a period of three (3) hockey seasons from the date of completion. The universal expiration date for Level 1 certification is August 31. For example, if you completed the course in 2020 the date of expiration will be August 31, 2023.

Main Responsibilities

Trainers must attend meetings as set by BLOMHA, and be familiar with the Constitutions and By-Laws, Regulations and Policies of BLOMHA, ALLIANCE Hockey and the Ontario Hockey Federation.

Check players' equipment periodically to ensure that it is in proper condition and fits well.

Maintain current medical forms for each player.

Manage and report all on-ice injuries.

Have an Emergency Action Plan (EAP) in the event of an injury.

Monitor and handle water bottles on the bench.

Maintain an adequate first aid kit.

Team Manager: REP MD & House League Select Hockey
Team managers provide administrative support to the Head Coach and bench staff, and is a rostered member of the team.
Main Responsibilities

Team Managers must attend meetings as set by BLOMHA, and be familiar with the Constitutions and By-Laws, Regulations and Policies of BLOMHA, ALLIANCE Hockey and the Ontario Hockey Federation.
- Discuss with Head Coach their philosophy for managing the team, how it fits with BLOMHA's REP Regulations and how best to relate this philosophy to the parents and players.

Assist with tournament entry requirements for the team.

Assist with the collection and management of monies for various team activities and the submission of financial statements to BLOMHA.

Assist with the dissemination of any team information, i.e., schedule changes, drink lists, picture day, etc.

Bench Staff Certification and Course Fees
BLOMHA will reimburse volunteers for required course fees upon submission of receipts. We will cover one half of the fees the first year and if you volunteer the following season you may apply to be reimbursed for the other half.
Certification Refund Request
Police Clearances
All team volunteers must present a valid Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) prior to participating with a team. There are three levels of police record checks. BLOMHA requires a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) which is specifically for seeking employment and, in the case of BLOMHA, for volunteering with children.
A vulnerable sector check is valid for three (3) hockey seasons. If you have a VSC dated 2019 or prior, a new one is required for the 2022-2023 season.

Other Volunteer Opportunities
BLOMHA Tournaments
Assist with daily operations at a BLOMHA Tournament; community activity guide, monitor raffles/auctions, award ceremonies and more.
Skills Training
BLOMHA hosts multiple development training sessions throughout the season, this includes learn-to-skate programs, power skating, stickhandling, and more.
Tryout Season
During tryout season this volunteer monitors and records player registration at the arena.
