PrintHouse League & Select Goalie Tutoring

SIP (Skating Improvement Practice) Program for Goaltenders

SIP sessions are all about freeing the goalie from the restriction of their goalie pads. Without goalie pads participants are able to push the limits when learning crossovers, turning and acceleration, etc. combined with goalie drills to strengthen specific goalie skills. The program is designed to increase overall strength and agility, improve handling of goalie pads, create quicker crease movements and increase cardio.

SIP sessions are conducted from the ringette line and down, a relatively small space. Straightforward drills covering short distances and using repetition are key tools for a successful session. Instruction and correction are given. Players will not be standing, watching or waiting during a session. Motion is fundamental.

Equipment required for SIP participation: (full out equipment is preferred)

  •  Regular player helmet with full cage (or goalie mask)
  •  Regular neck guard, gloves and stick
  •  Elbow pads, shin pads, protective cup, track suit
